MODEL 1913 EXPERIMENTAL CURRY COMB-HOOF PICKS:  The Model 1913 Curry Comb with the integral hoof pick was introduced with the 1912 Experimental Horse Equipments which are most closely associated with the Mexican Punitive Expedition in 1916.  As these Model 1913 Curry Combs were used through the remaining years of the United States Horse Cavalry, finding examples in the condition of those offered here is almost impossible.

I have the following Model 1913 Curry Combs available, each described below with accompanying photographs.

NO. 1  MODEL 1913 EXPERIMENTAL CURRY COMB-HOOF PICK – VERY GOOD  CONDITION:  This is a very good specimen in very nice condition.  The metal body still retains 99% of the bright finish, the teeth and bars are all straight and appear never to have been used, and overall shows no sign of wear.  The web handle is likewise clean, with no wear or damage and only the faintest soiling due to storage.  The incorporated folding hoof pick is fully functional and swivels freely.  (0534)  $95

NO. 2  MODEL 1913 EXPERIMENTAL CURRY COMB-HOOF PICK - EXCELLENT  CONDITION:  This is a very good specimen in excellent condition.  The metal body shows a few very minor spots of aging, still retains 99% of the bright finish, the teeth and bars are all straight and appear never to have been used, and overall shows no sign of wear and only the faintest indication of storage. The web handle is likewise clean, with no wear, damage or staining to the material.   The incorporated folding hoof pick is fully functional and swivels freely.  There is a number hand inscribed on the body, probably an identification number for the soldier to which this comb was issued.  (0303)  $115

NO. 3  MODEL 1913 EXPERIMENTAL CURRY COMB-HOOF PICK - EXCELLENT  CONDITION:  This specimen is in very good condition, with the metal body showing some minor aging.  The teeth and bars are all straight with no misshaping, and overall the comb shows minimal evidence of use.  The layered green khaki canvas handle is clean, shows no wear or damage, and only some very minor soiling where it joins the metal body.  The incorporated folding hoof pick is fully functional and swivels freely.  There is a unit identification number stamped on the hoof pick.  (0915)  $95
