CARTRIDGES FOR THE MODEL 1886 RIFLE - FULL BOX – GREEN
LABEL: This full, complete box bears the very
collectable “Cartridge Picture” green label, which
features an image of the cartridge with the “.45 – 90 –
300 WINCHESTER MODEL 1886” legend superimposed on the
cartridge.
First introduced in the 1886 catalog, this new cartridge
was developed for the Model 1886 Winchester Rifle, was
offered in the Model 1885 Winchester Single Shot Rifle,
and Marlin later chambered their Model 1895 Rifle for
this caliber as well.
The early production two piece square cornered box is
complete and full form. The top and front labels are
complete, the printing is intact, and the edges of the
labels have only some minor shelf wear. The end panel
label is intact and fully legible, as is the reloading
instruction label on the lower section of the box. The
box is very solid with no open seams and the box retains
its shape with sharp edges.
The box contains 20 original Winchester headstamped
.45-90 cartridges, all have the proper headstamp, and
all are loaded with the correct flat tipped, lead
conical bullets.
This is a relatively scarce offering of a very desirable
Winchester cartridge and this box will display nicely
