FRANKFORD ARSENAL .30 CALIBER GALLERY AMMUNITION
BULLET MOLD DATED 1899: A very attractive Krag
Carbine and Rifle accessory, this brass mold was
manufactured by the Frankford Arsenal in 1899 and is so
stamped on the bottom flat of the brass mold blocks, as
well as the caliber and the inspector’s initials. The
stamping is all very clear and legible. The blocks
are cut to cast five .30 caliber round balls. The
blocks are in very good condition, showing minor
evidence of use, but still in full form, are aligned
properly, and mate up with only a minimal gap between
the faces. Both of the blocks are stamped with a
number “7” inside the curve of the handle shank, likely
assembly numbers to keep them matched during the
finishing process. The sprue cutter is present, intact
and moves freely without being loose or sloppy. There
is some pitting on one edge of the sprue cutter as can
be seen in the photo, likely the result of poor storage,
with the remainder of the cutter plate and the other
steel screws, main hinge bolt and nut retain the
original arsenal blue finish. The handles, complete
with the brass ferrules, are full form with no chips or
cracks and retain their original light finish. This is
a very nice accessory to display with your Krag or one
of the early reloading kits. $175
