.45/70 M1873 TRAPDOOR RIFLE BUTT PLATE – UNIT MARKED:
A Trapdoor Rifle Butt Plate of the correct pattern for
those rifles manufactured after 1877. This specimen is
unit marked “4” on the tang and “F 21 46” and “S.V.” and
“181” on the butt. The “US” is present on the tang. In
spite of its obvious use, this butt plate shows little
wear and only minor pitting on the bend as the tang
turns down to the butt. A nice unit marked piece (#8)
