TWO ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF OKLAHOMA NATIVE
AMERICAN COWBOYS – SPINNING ROPE AND WEARING COLTS –
GREAT WESTERN IMAGES: These are two black and
white snap shots found in an old estate in Oklahoma,
featuring two Native American Cowboys. One is wearing a
cartridge belt and is carrying a Colt Pistol - appears
to be a Colt Single Action – in a nicely tooled
holster. He is dressed in a black hat, white shirt with
a kerchief around his neck, knee high tooled boots and
spurs. The other cowboy is shown twirling a lariat as
if doing rope tricks and he too is wearing a gun belt
with a holstered Colt. He is wearing a light colored,
pinched front hat, kerchief, dark vest, striped shirt,
tooled leather cuffs and spurs. From the terrain
visible in the background and the lighting in the
photos, both shots were probably taken at the same time
in the same location. Both men show distinct facial
features that identify them as Native Americans. The
photos measure 3 ¼” by 2 3/8”. There are no notations
on the reverse of either photo, so unfortunately any
history is lost. These are great period photos which
include all the accoutrements and subject matter that
make for desirable Western, Native American and Cowboy
images. (C114) $40 for the pair.
