MODEL 1907 US ARMY CARLISLE FIRST AID PACKET –
DATED 1918 – PAPER WRAPPED PACKET FOR THE POCKETED
MEDICAL PERSONNEL BELTS: This paper wrapped
Model 1907 US Army Carlisle First Aid Packets is
identical in content to those packaged in the brass
containers with the pull rings, however these paper
packets and the later canvas wrapped packets were
intended for issue to Medical Department personnel and
were to be carried in the multi-pocketed Mills Medical
Belts. As a result of the paper vs. metal packaging,
these individual dressing packets did not survive the
passage of time as well, and are considerably scarcer
today than those packaged in the brass containers.
This packet is dated July 26, 1917, the date of the
contract, and was manufactured by Bauer and Black of
Chicago, Illinois. The packet is full form, the outer
paper wrapping is fully intact with all the edges still
sealed, and it is in excellent condition, showing no
evidence of having been issued or carried.
These have become scarce on the market, and whether for
your Doughboy outfit or your Medical display, this is a
good example of the first aid packets carried by the
medical personnel who attended to the troops in the
trenches in Europe.
