1898 SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR
RIFLE & CARBINE & COLT PISTOL - ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT
MANUAL REPRINT:
A quality reprint of the 1898 printing of the
“DESCRIPTION AND RULES FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE
SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, CARBINE AND ARMY REVOLVERS, CALIBER
.45”, printed by the Washington Government Printing
Office in 1898, this is an exact reprint of the last
Ordnance Department manual that was issued to the
soldiers to instruct them on the care of not only the
standard issue Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifles and Carbines,
but the Model 1875 Officers Rifle, the Model 1888 Ram
Rod Bayonet Rifle, the Model 1873 Colt Single Action
Revolver and the Model 1875 S&W Schofield Revolver as
well.
Printed on glossy paper as
were the originals, this manual features 69 pages of
text with numerous diagrams covering the parts,
nomenclature and care of the weapons, and it also
includes disassembly instructions and a detailed chapter
on the ammunition in use at the time. A very
significant source of information, this manual is an
excellent “must have” addition to your Indian War period
library.
