PATTERN 1902 CAVALRY BREAST CORDS:  Introduced with the publishing of the 1902 Regulations for the Uniform of the United States Army, these breast cords were a simplified version of the combination helmet and chest cords which had been worn with the Models 1872 and 1881 Dress Helmets.  The new design eliminated the connecting  cords with the head gear, which with the new uniforms of 1902 was a cloth hat with a leather visor.  This new cord design was limited to the soldier’s torso and was intended to be worn on occasions when the full dress uniform was indicated.

This original set of Pattern 1902 Breast Cords is full length with the braided sections still intact and all the waffles, tassels, braided slides, and suspension loops present and intact.  The color is bright with no fading.  There are a few wear points along the main cords –evidence of issue and wear where the soldier likely snagged the cords on his horse’s equipment when mounting and dismounting during dress parades.  These wear points are not unsightly, nor do they weaken the integrity of the cords, and when the cords are displayed on a uniform coat they will not be particularly noticeable.

This is a nice set of Pattern 1902 Cavalry Breast Cords to complete a Pattern 1902 Dress Uniform Coat.  (0123)  $75
